Join the fight to bring Anthony Viola home.

The sentencing guidelines which went through an amendment in 2015, reduced Mr. Viola’s sentence, albeit at the honorable judge’s discretion. Moreover, the federal defenders have twice proclaimed that Mr. Viola’s claim has merit, and the government has submitted a letter showing no objection to the request.

However, in a significant blow to justice, Mr. Viola’s request for parole never went into consideration. Since all options have been exhausted and there still seems to be no end in sight to Mr. Viola’s plight, his legal team and family now seek your support to free Anthony Viola.

On ______, Anthony Viola received a life sentence of which he has already spent 25+ years in prison. Once a young man brimming with life, Mr. Viola is now way past his prime and a senior citizen no less and may already be living the last of his years. He is both ill and frail and, at this point, needs to be with his family as soon as possible.

Mr. Viola’s health has severely deteriorated over the last couple of years. Apart from life-threatening heart problems, he has also been in a battle with cancer, whose return he is not expected to survive, even with the best medical care. It is human nature to long for one’s loved ones when death seems inevitable and Viola’s is no different. Mr. Viola must be released from prison so that he can be with his family when he breathes his last rather than confined in jail.

Mr. Viola exhibited model behavior accompanied by a positive attitude, throughout his incarceration, despite being in a highly volatile environment. His stint with the prison’s suicide watch program was a massive success as he became a source of hope to fellow prisoners who had given up on their lives.

The absence of the family’s elder hasn’t only taken a toll at their mental health but been a cause of endless suffering arising out of missed opportunities of sharing joy and being comforted in times of grief.

It may already be too late for Mr. Viola’s late daughter who died of breast cancer and was deprived of her father’s warmth in her last moments. However, the reduction of Mr. Viola’s sentence could still do wonders for his wife, whose health is continually declining.

His family believes that he still has a lot to offer as a husband, father, and grandfather and his early release can make that possible.

Mr. Viola has a loving family and community waiting, willing to render their support every step of the path to freedom.
